SPF — sun protection factor — measures how long your body can be exposed to UVB before burning. For example, if a person's body normally takes 20 minutes to burn, an SPF 2 lotion can delay the burn to 40 minutes.
For a person who normally burns in 20 minutes, an SPF 15 should provide 300 minutes of protection, THATS 5 HOURS!
The key to good sun protection is to limit the time you are in direct sunlight hours, such as between 10am and 2pm, wear sun protective clothing, and use BestBloc sunscreen that is free of toxic chemicals! |
